PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT PROMOTES HEALTHY SNACKS FOR YOUTH ATHLETICS - US Fed News Service, Including US State News

RALEIGH, N.C., July 16 -- The city of Raleigh issued the following news release:

The City of Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department will be distributing information about healthy snacks to football, cheerleading and baseball coaches. This information educates coaches on how to choose a healthy snack for their team. 'Many coaches purchase snacks for their athletes. The City of Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department wants to make sure the coaches understand the importance of choosing a healthy snack,' says Cara McLeod, Marketing Coordinator for the City of Raleigh.

This project is part of the Healthy Snacking Project created by Advocates for Health in Action, the Wake County Council on Health and Fitness and Community Care of Wake and Johnston Counties, who saw a need to promote healthy snack ideas for kids participating in youth sports.
