- Air Force Master Sgt. Christopher D. Eaton has arrived for duty at Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C., and has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.

Eaton is the program manager of the Air Force Uniform Business Office assigned to the Office of the Air Force Surgeon General. The master sergeant has served in the military for 21 years.

He is the son of Susan B. Eaton of Ridgefields Road, and Jerry Eaton, both of Kingsport, Tenn.

His wife, Julia, is the daughter of Willie O. and Joyce A. Scruggs of Elgin.

The sergeant is a 1985 graduate of Central High School, Blountville, Tenn.

- Army Pfc. Nathan A. Gallois has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.

He is the son of Mark and Carol Gallois of Elgin. Gallois is a 2004 graduate of Burlington Central High School.

- Army 2nd Lt. Elizabeth E. Greenstein has enrolled at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md., as a medical student and graduate of the Class of 2010. The student will be matriculated, trained and prepared to serve as a physician in the Army, Navy, Air Force and the Public Health Service to meet the wartime and peacetime medical needs of the U.S. Armed Forces, both at home and abroad.

The tuition-free university, established by Congress under the Defense Department, is recognized as a worldwide reputable center of excellence for military medical education and research. In addition to free tuition, students receive free books, and equipment and instruments. The curriculum includes a concentration of preventive medicine, primary care, and emergency medicine, which are directly related to military medicine, tropical diseases, disaster medicine, military readiness, and adaptation to extreme environments.

Students are considered active duty military members while attending the university and receive pay benefits of a junior ranking officer with a pay grade of O-1. Upon graduation, they are promoted to a higher ranking officer with a pay grade of O-3 and are expected to serve at least seven years active duty and six years on inactive ready reserve status.

She is the daughter of Arthur J. and Laura J. Greenstein of South Barrington.

Greenstein graduated in 2002 from Barrington High School, and received a bachelors degree in 2006 from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y.

- Air Force Reserve Airman Adam L. Heykoop has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises and special training in human relations.

In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is the son of James and Kristine Heykoop of Elgin. Heykoop is a 2005 graduate of Elgin High School.

- Air Force Airman Shalane N. McLeod has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises and special training in human relations.

In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

She is the daughter of Ramona McLeod of Elgin, and Paul McLeod of Huntley. The airman is a 2003 graduate of Larkin High School, Elgin.

- Army Reserve Pvt. Brian D. Mette has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

- Army Reserve Pvt. Glen Nofsinger has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction in drill and ceremonies, rifle marksmanship, weapons, map reading, tactics, armed and unarmed combat, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, Army history, core values and traditions, and special training in human relations.

Nofsinger is the son of Maureen Faille of Bartlett.
